Mail Call!!!

Packages arrived for both kids today. Helen, our neighbor, called from FL asking if we knew there is a Brooklyn Girl clothing line! She mailed up the cutest shirt & pants that have Brooklyn Girl on them.
G-ma & Grandpa Boutelle mailed a few outfits, & custom blanket for Dylan, & Brooklyn got a new Baby Alive doll that hops up & down! I love the blanket- just as a did when they had one made for Brooklyn- but I must say my fave is the lil outfit that says Mommy's main man!

Umbilical cord came off today....its' a inny

Wow, Dylan really can sleep thru anything! Kelly & her girls came over today for playdate with Brooklyn & so Kel could get her baby fix! I definately need to branch out a bit & find some other parents with kids similar in age in our neighborhood. She always has so much fun with the McMain girls but age/school will quickly become more of a factor. Until then, we're all having a blast! Thanks for the outfits & hat girls!!

I put on a tie to meet my cousins!!

Mere, Steve, & the boys came down to meet Dylan today & have dinner. Brooklyn is always excited to spend time with her cousins! Noah made each of them a blanket- Brooklyns' is bright colored (to match her personality) & has a soccer ball on it, while Dylans' is blue with Noahs' stamp of a frog. Here are all the cousins together for their first pic. Gonna have to find a new word other than "cheese" if I want to see Brooklyns' eyeballs in any photos for awhile! haha. Thanks for the Dr. Suess book, bird & basketball nuks!

Bath time!

3 photos for you: During Bath, getting dressed, 10 minutes later.

Visitor week begins!

Kremer stopped over for a nice visit tonight.....cookies for mom, a movie (Kings' Speech) for dad, & a "Hug me I'm Irish" shirt for lil B! Good thing we chat it up before we started the movie as we both fell asleep.

From the mouth of Dad:
"you never realize how high pitched & squeeky the voice of a two year old girl is until you try to get a newborn to sleep."

What else can I say about this other than they're ready to watch a UK baasketball game!

Happy Valentines' Day!

So I tried my first receipe from my Living Without magazine last night: chocolate shortbread cookies & a raspberry gellato. Both turned out to be very easy to make & tasted great. I sent two to her daycare today & we had the gellato & rest @ dinner. Sean bought a bottle of wine.....ahhhhh.
When Brooklyn got home, she & Sean headed to the mailbox & opened up all of our Valentine Cards. I learned a lesson from her again today...or maybe its the lesson from the Grinch I should have remembered during our many viewings.......anyway, turns out her favorite card/gift was a heart shaped cutout that had a drawing & poem on it my mom sent her. Nothing fancy, just "a heart; I got a heart mommy!" It only took a few hours for it to be crumbled up, but to a two year old, that's how its supposed to be because its in her blue koala backpack with a few other prized possessions...and some Chex cereal! :-)

A surprise visit from Granny & Papa Obie

We thought they would be coming on Monday, so when the doorbell rang on Sunday, they got to see how we 'really' live- still wearing our pj's, house a mess, & grilling us up some sandwhiches after just laying both kids down for a nap.
Yappy Doodle as we've started calling her yells out "HELLO!!!! WHO IS IT??" So, the clan got back up & had a nice visit!

Day 5

Finally feel like I'm getting a bit caught up after having full 3 hour naps these last two days. Day 1 I took a nap from 8am-11am. I came around the corner & my lovely husband said I look like a "vision!" (I think we all know what that really means.)
Dylan has been a fan of being up from 3-7am....not my personal best hours. The home health nurse came on Tuesday & was a bit concerned with his weight loss (down to 7lbs 4 oz), which had us back to the hospital Wed. for another weight check & Billy Reuben levels. We started supplimenting Tues. & he gained 4 oz overnight.....or her scale was off. Either way, he's heading the right direction & last night was up only every 2 hours.
Brooklyn is still very attentive..."its ok baby brother, its allright," even when hes not crying. She's a bit frustrated with us not letting her kiss on him today, but thats because she has strep throat. We thought is was going to be an ear infection since she was complaining about her ear, & asking for a band-aid for it. She's taking her meds just fine & I'm sure she'll be excited about her new elmo toothbrush tomorrow morning!
I'm still giving Dylan the once over, trying to figure out who he looks like. We've pulled out Brooklyns' first photo & they do look very similar. He has the same hair swirl in the back that she does, I believe Daddys' chin, & looks of deep concentration that causes the crease in between his nose & eyebrows. Two times I've noticed a dimple on his right check. Can't wait to see more of when he can smile! He has very long fingers & toes;/I say piano hhands and Sean says they are to palm the basketball!

Emails with daycare continued-funny B stories

Julie

Yes she did poop in her pull up and when we asked her why she did that......she said 'I was BUUUUUUSSSYYYYYYYY!

That daughter of yours keeps us laughing all day long and I hope you are keeping a journal of all these wild conversations. I kept them of Gregg and Megan and now I'm adding them to their scrapbooks. We get lots of laughs over these stories.

Your little man is so handsome - But Brooklyn won't tell us anything about him . When we asked she said "I don't want to talk about that baby". LOL

take care
Christine

Brooklyn to Mimi: "I pooped at school today."
Mimi: "hi five Brooklyn!"
Brooklyn: "I did NOT go potty today."
Mimi: "wait a minute.....do I need my hi-five back? Exactly WHERE did you poop
today Brooklyn?"
Brooklyn: "In my pullup" "Are you happy 'bout that Mommy? Huh? Are you
happy?"

Don't know if this is true or not true, but lordy it was hysterical!

Brooklyns' Reaction

When we talked to Brooklyn from our hospital room (she wasn't allowed to visit since she didn't have her flu shot), we told her we were getting ready to bring home Dylan. "OH WOW," was her reaction! She saw his picture on this blog & told Mimi he was a keeper! LOL
When we got home, we were greeted by a very anxious 2 year old, who couldn't wait to see her baby brother Dylan. She ran over to him, telling him hi in a squeeky voice, & smiling very big! "Let's get him out together,"...& so we did. She kissed him on his forehead several times & saying "aww..." & finally up into the chair she went so she could hold him. Mommy on the other hand reached for the camera & thought I had the video on, recording these cute moments of saying "aww.....hi baby brother Dylan", & kissing on his head some more & thought I was turning it off when he started to cry. However, I had just turned it to ON when he started to fuss, so what you'll get to see is B's reaction to him crying!! LOL. Again, after I turned the camera off, she gently told him "don't cry baby brother, it'll be ok."
So B, I appologize for you getting the short end of the stick in the clip & want all to know what a great big sister you are turning out to be these first 2 days home- you're giving him just enough attention to share your love, but not so attentive that mommy is fearful you will do to him what you do to your baby dolls! :-)

Dylans' first visitors

Dylans' first visitor was from his Godmother, Julie Kremer! Not only did she visit with him, but she stayed during some of those 'intense' momments when having a nurse friend is beyond excellent support!
Good Morning Everyone!
Sean still promises to blog his sons' birth story for me, so you'll have to stay tuned!
It's almost 10 o'clock, & Sean just headed out for breakfast. Dylan is sound asleep next to me. We were just commenting to one another how different he is from Brooklyn- from the pregnancy notes (gentle rotations v/s sharp jumps with toes in ribs) to delivery (water breaking & 12 hrs v/s 2.5 hours) to their first 12 hours- Brooklyn was so wide awake & alert, & wouldn't lay down to sleep where all he does is sleep! lol.
He just passed his hearing test & came back from circumcision, where the nurse claims he cried more when they undressed him than from the proceedure itself. (that must be what they tell all new parents who cringe at the thought of what is happening).
All in all, I feel pretty good. I didn't sleep much last night as he was sleeping so soundly I was nervous- weird, huh!
Everything is looking good thus far & we're on track to head home around 6pm tonight.

First pics with mom & dad

Well, Dr. Jackson was wrong! He didn't think I'd make it a full week to today's appointment. Had my NST this morning, which showed contractions at 5- 7 minutes intervals over a half hour period- still no big changes to be heading "in." The doctor appoinment showed that I am still at 3cm, but now 80% effaced. It's 8pm, I've just got Brooklyn to bed, & I've already warned Sean I'm feeling a bit snappy tonight from my back bothering me. Mimi came over today, & we hung his shelves in his room today. She was right- its the fastest we've bought something & got it hung up in this house! lol. While she measured, Brooklyn decided she & mommy should race thru the house. Unfortunatly, this is probably the real reason my back is hurting. So, I'm off to eat dinner, lay on the couch & see what the rest of the night brings.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Just realized I have been more focused this last week on pregnancy updates. B isn't exactly a fan of 3x's/day eyedrops, but she is clearing up wonderfully. Fully in her "two's," now, the word "NO" has been coming on more strongly. Her latest in her bag of tricks, is when we question something she is doing, she'll find a diversion for us: "Brooklyn, why are all your crayons all over the floor?" "Here daddy, you play with this," or her better one....."because I love my mommy & daddy."
She's still fascinated with starfall.com website, & loves playing the memory game & clicking on first letters to form words. (cat, sat, hat, bat.) These last two weeks, she's been interested in bigger books- Cinderella & The Forgetful bears are her two faves right now, with multiple reading reading requests.
And potty training.....Sean's not a fan of my new method- instead of sticker rewards, she now gets to wear underwear as a reward if she tells somebody & gets to the potty in time. Lets just say daddy seems to be more present for the times it hasn't work, than it has. oh,....& just so you know, Sean lied....he's not more calm about this pregnancy, he's freakin nervous nelly!! lol.
hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go! The ice didn't hit our area as much as they thought it would. (my S-I-L on the other hand spent the night without power, & the eerie sounds of limbs cracking & breaking all last night.) We started timing contractions again last night from 9-11:30. They were anywhere from 20 min-8 min apart. These little squeezes never did lengthen or grow in intensity so I didn't rush to the shower this time. I've felt 3 more since I've been up this morning & Sean has just called to see if I made it to work ok & how I'm doing. I'm convinced our son has heard the weather report & now just being stubborn! lol.
Well, today is the day the majority has guessed his arrival, including me. 12 hours left to go. My next guess will be 'real' contractions once the Superbowl game is over. (Or maybe he'll say Shitsburg isn't worth watching & we'll have to pop out of our reclining theater room seats in a hurry. I think I just realized how happy I am they're electric!)
