Books & Balls for our little guy

Dylan is getting more & more into books. He'll bring one over & crawl right into your lap. Right now he seems to have 2 favorites, a "Colors" book from the library with 3 different ducks on the front, and a Bert & Ernie Dinosaur Egg book that G-ma & G-pa Boutelle gave to Brooklyn for her 1st Easter.

Still working with him to talk. Dada, Mama and now "dunk!" Think he likes basketball? He'll pick up any ball around & dunk it in their basketball hoop.

working with a spoon

He's trying! And Boy oh boy does he show a temper in frustration when it doesn't quite turn out the way he wanted! Let's just say our ol' dog Al would love to be laying under his high chair!!

Happy Easter!!

Easter bunny came early this morning! Brooklyn made it into our room around 6:30 & wanted to wait until Dylan woke before heading out to see her basket. (that girl can sometimes exhibit extreme patience/discipline). Brooklyn was most excited about her nail polish, & wanted to make easter egg fingers & toes (yellow, pink & purple). Then she decided to have a peeps for breakfast.
Dylan first pulled out his football, but kept giving a frustrated brow look when he realized it doesn't bounce. His spider man sippy cup & the dino flashlight that roars seemed to be the next best things, along with listening to the hip-hop Easter bunny Mimi gave us last year.
I had plenty of help making strawberry pancakes & sausage, & then went outside for the good 'ol Easter church clothes pictures. Dylan was more ready to run or give us a dance move pose.LOL

And then we were off to Aunt Mere & Uncle Steve's house for the annual Easter egg luncheon & egg hunt. Each age range of kids had their own section to hunt eggs in. Dylans' were filled with Gerber fruit melts, & B had a mix of hair ties, stickers, & balls. Next came the confetti eggs! The boys are always the most competive, & I certainly have to watch out for my devious husband & father-in-law! All of the girls (plus Dylan!) loved the bounce house too.
Lunch was delicious; Steve smoked Noah's bird & it turned out super juicy. Brooklyn wanted to even bring some back home. Afeter 3 hours of solid playing & eating, Dylan started walking around like a zombie! He was asleep in the car within the first few minutes.

So, we got the call that cousin Noah shot his first turkey & it wouldn't be processed so it was a great option for "Brooklyn safe" food on Easter day! They asked if she wanted to go see the turkey & said yes, so off she went. I had to weigh the options- go see a dead turkey or do taxes. Ugh both ways, and taxes won. Apparently, she checked out the turkey for a few minutes & then was off for the playground.

I'm gonna "deaden it"

So, this was a hysterical 15 minute show. Brooklyn grabbed the big broom, and Dylan grabbed her small pink one. Dylan was trying to sweep, Brooklyn on the other hand, kept stomping the broom. When I asked her what she was doing, she said 'I'm gonna deaden it! There's a fly over here Mom!!" (Apparently, she didn't stop long enough to realize that a still fly on the ground just might already be dead. LOL) So, then she laid down on the ground, and started YELLING her Fifty Nifty United States song. When I asked her to use her inside voice, she replied "I'm gonna scare it to death!," and kept singing VERY LOUDLY! When the song, was done, she walks over to me, hands me the broom, & says proudly, "I did it!! I saved the day! There's a fly I deadened mom; you can clean it up now. Oh, and here's your broom."

Eye yie yie.
