Memorial Weekend

2 parties, & lots of pool time, and I finally have tan lines again! She's not afraid of the pool at all. I'm sure we'll be in a pool a lot this summer, so I hope to have a good dent in learning how to swim. (and how to jump in to someone.)
Started off the morning with a wagon ride- and what better to toss in that a good book, drink, your bear & a blankie.
This is a great way to end the month & I'm glad May is behind us. It's been a tough month with 4 new teeth, new allergy reactions, a bad cough/gag, & several doc appointments-one with a nebulizer. Here we come, June!

sometimes it takes a few minutes to like trampoline

So last night we were filing our nails together. Up until now, that's been a battle-but if you do it on the front porch...it's fun?....but that's not the point of this post anyway.

Have you seen a baby's nail file? About 3 inches long. My daughter picks up a piece of (Fruit Chillers) cardboard this morning & hands it to me saying "nail." I told her it was cardboard. She pointed out an opening in the cardboard about 3 inches long, in the same oval shape as her nail file.
Spatial awareness or what!

I just LOVE watching her brain at work.

Shapes

She knows her shapes fairly well from playing w/ a puzzle ball & on a placemat of hers. What amazes me, is the way she is seeing shapes everywhere now.

EG.- We're driving down the road & we're at the stop sign, & she points out to me "octagon. red." Next she points out a diamond shape road sign!
And the doctors' stethescope has a circle on it.

It's just so cool to see a little mind at work!

Baby Dolls

Just asked Sean how his day w/ B was. His response: "I got to hold babies a lot while she fed them."-lol!

Here we are, prepping dinner.....and its time for her baby to eat. Puts the bib on her & everything. :)

Happy Mother's Day

What a great day! I opened my first handmade gift from my daughter; a multicolor plastic bowl! She was so helpful unwrapping it, & I only got to hold it for a short while-she wanted to check it out again. Once she finished her "examination," she handed it back saying "ma-ma's bowl." Too cute!!!!! :) I'll also be spending some time at the spa in the very near future-Thank you dear.
While I did have to work, I was able to leave an hour early as we had our mothers (&Paul) over for dinner. Sean cooked up a fab chicken marsala, with asparagus, & corn. For dessert, we used B's new ice cream maker for bananna roasted maple ice cream (or soy cream....whatever you want to call it.) Turned out more like a frozen custard mixture, but it was very rich & good. I'd say we all watched Avatar in the new theater room, but after 2 bottles of wine....I took a little nap about 20 minutes into the film.

Spring Allergies

Looks like she may have these too. :( Nobody slept well last night; with a little one having slightly rapid breathing & a bad cough/gag. We went in this morning to the doctor & they started her on breathing treatments. She did such a great job. Treatments can be every 4 hrs., & she had 2 today. Tonight she seems to be doing much better, so we held off on the evening dose. Really hope this is a 'one & done' thing. We'll go back next week for a check-up.

Potty Time

Our Graco potty arrived from Amazon 3 weeks ago today. I thought this would be a super easy task since the first two mornings she used it we had a BM. Day 3, a #1. And that was it. No more potty action- unless you count reading books, & wanting to just sit on the potty so you get another sticker!
But yesterday, she earned these super cool sunglasses as a prize from school for asking to go to the potty & going both #1 &2. :) And this morning, well, we're 2 for 2. Wish us luck!

Cool Mom

I got to pick up Brooklyn today from daycare. It was SO CUTE; she started introducing me to her friends in her class!!!! I totally soaked it in-being a "Cool Mom," 'cause I know the day will come when she asks me to drop her off somewhere a block away from her hangout destination with her teenage friends. :)

I also learned that she huggs everybody before she leaves. Could have guessed that-she's always giving hugs- and if you've been lucky enough to have one, you know they're addicting. :)

Kentucky Derby Day!

Thanks to Mimi for her help with patching walls et all, we were able to finish painting the media room just in time to host a Derby Party. Took B downstairs to show her, & when she saw the big screen (winnie the pooh video), she threw her arms in the air & yelled WHOAAAAA. Sean grinned from ear to ear. We had about 20 over, with Sydney being the big winner with horse #4. It was a fun, fruity, & super late night.
