Erics' 2nd birthday
Brooklyn was invited to her first birthday party tonight for her friend Eric. His Diego birthday cake looked & tasted great!! She was perfectly content with her chex cereal( thank goodness!)
Yes, I know she's standing in the chair, but that's me crouched down next to her. I asked Sean to snap a picture of the two of them together & this is as good as it gets! Might have done a little better had I charged the batteries before we left the house; whoops!

BIG GIRL RIDING FOR THE 1ST TIME IN HER FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT!
Sunday, February 21, 2010
So this morning, Brooklyn wanted me to lift her up to the mantle so she could get her Elmo valentines' from the McMain girls. I pointed out to her all of her valentine cards, & how loved she is. She looks at me & starts to point to each of the cards & the animals on them saying dog, bear, cow, cat. HOLY CRAP! I'd never heard her say cow or dog before! (yes, we have a dog, but she calls her by name..or tries....EYE-YA-is how it comes out) ANYWAY, so I was convinced Sean had been pointing the cards out with her & practicing so I kindly wake him up at 8am on a Sunday (his family reading this is laughing at this point) & ask him & his answer was no. Surprised, I grab her farm friends book & open it up to the first page & ask which animal this was: "pig." Again, my brain says HOLY CRAP! as she's never said pig before either, even though we've read this book 500 million times, but of course I say, that's right, you're a smart girl! So, I open to the rooster page, thinking she won't say rooster! Again, I asked her which animal this was, & she stares at me, then the book, then me, then the book, back to me & says "cock do" & runs off! Little stinker!! The page reads "How does the rooster say nice to see you? Cock a doodle do" Reading obviously pays off.

Happy 40th Birthday Tony

Seans' family thru a surprise 40th birthday for his cousin Tony tonight. Brooklyn had all kinds of fun torturing her cousins during a photo session. Apparently pulling Noahs' hair & poking out his eyeball was more exciting than smiling for the camera. The boys also brought their new puppy, Bella, which she enjoyed playing with him, but no enough to guilt trip here mama into buying her another one. She did like Tracys' Uggs, so I might have to be on the hunt for a mock pair next year! All n all, it was a great party!

Shoe fetish
My daughter reminded me of my sister Christina today. When she was little, it didn't matter if we were going to my track meet, she wanted to wear a skirt & her patent leather black shoes.
Today, Mimi brought over a pair of patent leather brown shoes. They're a size six, but they were on sale & super, super cute! Brooklyn didn't care one bit they were 2 sizes too big!! She quickly compensated & shuffled across the floor giggling like a little school girl just so she could keep them on her feet!

Straight from Yahoo News
Forget red and blue — color America white. There was snow on the ground in 49 states Friday. Hawaii was the holdout.
It was the United States of Snow, thanks to an unusual combination of weather patterns that dusted the U.S., including the skyscrapers of Dallas, the peach trees of Atlanta and the Florida Panhandle, where hurricanes are more common than snowflakes.
As of early Friday morning, 67.1 percent of the U.S. had snow on the ground, with the average depth a healthy 8 inches.
The all-time record for snowfall is February 1978, with 7.31 million square miles. There is a chance this February could break that. There is also a chance that this could go down as the week with the most snow cover on record, Robinson said.

Where did my baby go?
Last night was an odd sensation. Usually, around midnight just before I go catch my Zzzz's, I go check on Brooklyn-covers on etc. She's usually curled up in one corner snuggled with her blanket & bear. Last night, she was stretched out on her belly, in the center of the bed. What came to me was a flash of the first night we put her in that crib-how big that bed looked for her at the time! It was a tender moment,a reminder of just how quickly time does go by, & how I have loved every minute of this so far.

A valentine gift.
SNOW DAY
Another 5 inches today, another 1-3 expected tomorrow, & 3 inches just a few days ago. They just said on the news our Feb. average temperature is 40 degrees. So how did we spend our day? Making snowangels, sliding on our indoor (currently) playhouse, watching Sesame Street...elmo of course, skyping with friends & family, & trying out some pumpkin crunch muffins.
Bookie
So, this is a quick raw clip of her saying her name. At first, she'd point herself out in photos & her name was "Bookin." A few weeks later, we are now "Bookie."
She also likes to hold the camera more than be video taped as you'll quickly notice!

"Singing"....
...has replaced our morning drive conversations between Brooklyn & I. Immediately when we latch into the carseat, I begin hearing "Elmo, Elmo......peeeeeeeeeees"
Ever seen the stand in the center of the mall where they customize a CD to your childs' name? Well, Elmo says Brooklyns' name throughout this one & she can't help but get the giggles when it starts. It really is cute. They do sing an alphabet song....which she tries to sing (mumbles) thru the center & is great for saying the letter "z" quite loudly at the end.
Maybe an audio moment one day.
