A tree grows in Brooklyn('s room)

B now has her very own custom built palm tree in her Jungle Room, complete with coconuts & a monkey hanging from the vine. I'll post pics soon!

The Barley Video

This is a funny, yet not-so-funny video. And here's why. All the books say to try new foods in the morning on weekdays, that way your doctor's office is open if there's a problem. (see where I'm going with this already!)
Today we were trying barley. B ate a little bit of the oatmeal cereal, but mostly blew bubbles when we brought it to her lips & turns her head away. You'll notice Brooklyn will probably enjoy all of her finger foods!
Now, while this video is comical, shortly after we had vomiting, & a little body covered in hives. :( And....back to the doctor we go! Our little ones' first food allergy.

We knew something weird was up with her cough, but didn't know they compare it to a bark. Yep, she's got croup..with a bonus surprise of an ear infection. Poor little girl. This time she looks more miserable. Running nose, & tired eyes, I felt like I was shoveling everything under the sun down her throat tonight: Tylenol, Amoxicillin, cereal, milk, & super cold apple juice (to help loosen things up.) This was her 1st time having A.J., but she more just chewed on the bottle & made a funny face. And yes, she's still smiling up a storm thru all of this.

Spring Break Zoo day

Perfect day for the zoo. 73 degrees, full sun! We met up with The McMains, who girls were on Spring Break this week. I thought B would like it if we started off with big (visible) animals. Her first zoo animal: The elephant! Her reaction: look around at everything EXCEPT the elephant- reached out to other kids quite a bit & stared at the zoo keeper who was educating the kids. She really enjoyed the manatee & all that was in his aquarium & the squawking birds throughout the zoo. I tried to lean over & let her smell the tulips in bloom but she's still working on those fine moter skills-grab the flower & try to eat it!

time for the first "real" food...if one dose not count ice cream...and beer (note to any CPS that may be reading, look up humor in the OED).

Easter Mass

Brooklyn- you are definately your fathers' daughter. Today you decided to sleep in, and now's its 20 minutes before mass starts!

Hapy Easter!

Today was special, not only is it Easter but it is Noah's birthday! We're happy Aunt Mere & Uncle Steve live close enough now that we can go to their new house. B wasn't hurting for attention today-from my mom in the morning, to meeting Uncle Terry, & Cousins Tracy & Brett. An Easter egg hunt was held for the kids-B tried to tell them where the adults hid the eggs but the words just didn't quite come out!

Red's Opening Day

Today was 38 degrees, raining, & 70% chance of a rain/snow mix....and we were at our 1st Opening Day! Most of you reading this may think "what a crummy day," but:
1) I got a day off with my husband
2) Met Kremers' boyfriend
3) Our seats were under cover ..and there was little wind
4) Laura brought us up free hot dogs & peanuts
and
5) Parked in a great spot that avoided traffic!

Reds still lost to the NY Mets, 2-1. We'll get 'em next time!

Sunday Breakfast

You can see Sean's feet (close to the stove); he's cooking up our Sunday favorite of Dakin Farm pancakes. Allie is waiting for either pancakes or bacon to fall on the floor, & B is testing out one of her new toys. I'm multitasking of checking emails on 1 tab, blogging on the other, packing lunch for work & playing peek-a-boo to get the smile in this photo!

Rolly Polly

When Brooklyn wakes up, it's usually with a huge smile on her face, a cackle or two, & arms reaching up toward you for a hug. It's one of my fave moments! This morning, she was in bed with us (snuggle Saturdays) & when she work up again, she reached over towards me. This time though, I moved out of the way...she was on a roll, & made it all the way over from back to belly for the first time! YEAH. Sean says it doesn't count since she rolled on a decline. I say it counts because I saw it first! :) She rolled over for him later today as well, this time from belly to back. Guess we'll be putting up baby gates soon. I'll post videos as soon as they start occuring with a bit more regularity.

Bad Blogger!

I know its been awhile...Sorry, but I'm trying to catch up on sleep. Monday night I was convinced somebody hid a "party in my crib" sign in B's room & I just hadn't found it yet. Tues: another party in Brooklyn's crib overnight, but add back arching while nursing & feverishly pulling at her ears. I thought we were in for another ear infection so I scheduled a doc appmt for Wed. morning. Her doctor said her ears looked great-no April fools joke either. Turns out this was an early indicator of her stuffy head & runny nose that reared throughout the day.
So I'm totally ready for bed, & Sean cannot believe I'm going to sleep & not going to stay up & celebrate Univ. of KY getting their new basketball coach! (visual: he was sitting on the couch, wrapped in his UK blanket, with the tv on, putting batteries in his UK wildcat mascot, & tracking the future coach's flight route on the web. Guess he's a bit of a fan!) And.......off I went to bed. :)
Thurs B & I headed down to the park & played with a very cute husky/lab mix & had playtime together. Friday I went in for a Cindy massage (I don't know what I'd do without her) & hung out @ Mimi's for a little bit. She fully enjoyed sitting in her little rocker watching the cats play! We both came home & took a 2 hr nap together & I went out for my first night since B officially entered our lives for a night of cocktails, The Websters (fab band) & a belated birthday celebration of our friend Kelly.
